Serra Yilmaz
Serra Yilmaz is well-known for her work in Turkish and Italian theatre, film and television. Yilmaz studied psychology in France before beginning her acting career in her native Turkey which took off in 1983 with the film Şekerpare. In 2002 she won acclaim for the leading role in 9, a film directed by director Ümit Ünal. Yılmaz has had supporting roles in such internationally-acclaimed films as Harem Suare (1999), Le Fate Ignorante (The Ignorant Fairies) (2000) and La Finestra di fronte (Facing Windows) (2002), and Saturno Contro (Saturn in Opposition) (2007), all directed by Ferzan Özpetek. She worked as an actress at the Istanbul Munici pal Theatre from 1988 to 2004. In addition to acting, Yılmaz is also a director and translator. In 2006 she was the official interpreter for Pope Venedict XVI on his trip to Turkey. Awards include Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Harem Suare at the Antalya Film Festival and Best Actress for her performance in 9 at the 21st Istanbul International Film Festival.
Serra Yılmaz first came to the Gardner as an Artist-in-Residence in March, 2006. In the Spring of 2008 she returned to perform for four intimate staged readings in the museum’s galleries as well as a larger evening program in the Tapestry Room dedicated to Hrant Dink, the Turkish-Armenian journalist who was assassinated in 2007.

Cliff Evans
Cliff Evans was born in Darkwood Australia in 1977 and moved with his family to Texas at the age of three. Evans graduated from the Museum School, Boston in 2002. He returned a year later for the competitive Fifth Year Program and won the prestigious traveling scholarship from the Medici Society. Evans' work has been shown at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Brickbottom Gallery, the Judi Rotenberg Gallery, the Maryland Art Place in Baltimore, the Creative Research Lab in Austin, Texas and Location One in New York. I n addition to his installation work, Evans’ films have screened at various festivals, including: CinemaTexas, Austin, TX; Boston Underground Film Festival, Boston, MA; and Brooklyn Underground Film Festival, Brooklyn, NY.  He has also produced, with composers, a handful of collaborations that have screened/performed at many locations, including: Tanglewood – Boston Symphony Orchestra, Filmmakers and Composers Program in Lenox, MA; Harvard University, Boston, MA; and Camberwells Composers’ Collective, London, UK. Cliff Evans came to the Gardner in 2006 as an Artist-in-Residence. He currently resides in Brooklyn and teaches at the School of the Museum of Fine Art, Boston.
